WebAR Bookmark: A Simple Object, a Powerful Digital Experience

Turning a Bookmark into an AR Experience
Žltý event budovania značky is one of Slovakia’s top branding conferences. With GoBigname and Forbes Slovakia, we used WebAR to turn a simple bookmark into a unique communication tool. When visitors scanned the paper bookmark with their phones, it came to life with a video message from Michal Pastier (Creative Director, GoBigname). What looked like a regular print item became a personal digital moment for 800+ attendees.
Thanks to WebAR, any flat object, like a brochure or poster, can become an interactive experience. It’s a fresh way to share content, grab attention, and create memorable event moments.
Turn One Object into Hundreds of Interactions
To share an exclusive video message from Michal Pastier and drive traffic to a website, we teamed up with Forbes Slovakia to find the perfect medium: a small, practical item that wouldn’t go to waste.
The result? A bright yellow bookmark that is easy to distribute, reusable, and powered by WebAR. With just a phone camera, it transformed into an interactive experience that captured attention and sparked curiosity.
A Print Bookmark Brought to Life with WebAR Technology
We made the yellow bookmark engaging using WebAR - augmented reality that works right in your phone’s browser, with no app download required. It was easy to use. Guests scanned the bookmark with their phones, and Michal’s video message appeared instantly. After watching the video, they could tap a link that took them straight to a website to learn more or buy his book.
Services We Provided
- WebAR – augmented reality with no app download required
- QR code on the bookmark for quick access
- Marker image (the front of the bookmark) to trigger the video
- Call-to-action screen directing visitors to the preferred website.
How We Brought the Yellow Bookmark to Life
Picking the right flat object: We chose a bookmark because it was small, easy to hand out, and something people would actually keep and use after the event.
Uploading the video: Michal Pastier recorded a personal message for the conference guests, making the whole experience feel more special.
Developing the AR experience: We used WebAR to link the video to the bookmark. The cover image acted as a trigger, and a QR code made it simple for people to access it using their phones—no extra apps were needed.
Testing everything - we ensured the experience worked smoothly on different types of phones and browsers so everyone could enjoy it.
Hosts launched the campaign at the event and handed out over 800 yellow bookmarks during the conference.
To measure the activation's success, we tracked the number of people who watched Michal’s video and clicked the link to visit the website, both on the day of the event and one month after.
WebAR That Converts: 13% CTR from a Bookmark
Amazing results from the activation after one month:
- 753 people watched the video
- 500 of them streamed it on the day of the conference
- That added up to 6,629 seconds of total watch time
- On average, each person watched for 18,4 seconds
- 98 people clicked the link to visit the website
- That’s a 13.39% click-through rate
Results show that visitors didn’t just notice the bookmark - they watched the full video, enjoyed the personal experience, and many even took the extra step by clicking the link. This use case proves that something as simple as a piece of paper can become an interactive, powerful tool to tell your story, thanks to WebAR technology. It’s a new way for brands and individuals to connect with people and guide them where they want them to go online.
